Why do we need a Signage Policy and Guidelines?

    The Signage Policy and Guidelines aim to provide a consistent approach to signs across the council area, and outline a clear process for the assessment of requests for signs.

    Collectively, the Signage Policy and Guidelines will help Council:

    • enhance the visual amenity and public safety throughout the city;

    • provide road directional signage that enables motorists and other road users to find their way around the district in an efficient and convenient manner;

    • in the planning, design, installation and maintenance of signs to buildings, reserves and roads under its care and control;

    • regulate signs to ensure a consistent approach to signage throughout the City and compliance with legislation, council policy and by-laws;

    • with the assessment of applications for signs.
