Consultation has concluded

The City of Victor Harbor is seeking public feedback on a proposal to renew the lease for the Encounter Bay Bowling Club located at 51 Armstrong Road, Victor Harbor, commonly known as the Encounter Bay Recreation Ground.

Background

The Encounter Bay Bowling Club was established at the current location in 1959. Through continual improvement to the leased area, the Club can offer its members and visitors’ year round bowling on three all-weather synthetic greens. This includes an open triples social competition, gala and regular monthly tournaments, a night owl competition, junior development program and also hosts free bowling lessons for people with special needs.

The clubrooms comprises of full bar and kitchen facilities which allows for extra income through the hire of the building for community and social events.

Lease Proposal

To aid in the preparation of a detailed lease agreement with the Encounter Bay Bowling Club, the community is invited to comment on the following principles:

  • An overall lease term of 21 years.
  • The lease provides the lessee with exclusive use of the premises.
  • The annual rent being a peppercorn rental, consistent with that currently being paid by local sporting groups.
  • The permitted use includes bowling, community and social activities
  • The lessee being responsible for the maintenance of the premises.
