Consultation has concluded. A report is currently being prepared outlining all of the community feedback received. This will be presented to Council Members for their consideration at an upcoming budget workshop.
You asked for earlier involvement in Council's annual budgeting process. We listened.
The City of Victor Harbor is changing the way we involve our community in the preparation of our annual budget, introducing an early engagement period to understand your priorities before preparations commence.
The additional consultation period will enable Council to be better informed of community priorities to the development of the budget, at the same time as providing you with a great opportunity to shape how the budget is allocated.
This November, our community is invited to share their priorities for Victor Harbor's future by talking with us at one of our listening posts:
- Thursday, 16 November 2023 - Victor Central Shopping Centre (near the escalators), 10am to 2pm
- Saturday, 18 November 2023 - Victor Harbor Farmers' Market (Grosvenor Gardens), 8am to 11am
- Tuesday, 21 November 2023 - Ocean Street (Near the post office), 10am to 12pm
- Wednesday, 22 November 2023 - Victor Harbor Library (1 Bay Road, Victor Harbor), 4pm to 6pm

What we hear through this engagement campaign will be used along with findings from a number of other engagement campaigns to help inform the development of the draft 2024/25 Annual Business.
This consultation will run throughout November 2023.

Share your priorities for Victor Harbor's future to help inform the development of the 2024/25 Annual Business Plan.
It could be a project you would like to see included or excluded, more or less expenditure on a specific service, or a wider issue that you feel is important to ensure a bright future for Victor Harbor.
Please note, this is an informal information gathering exercise that will be used in conjunction with a number of formal engagements that Council has undertaken over the last 12-18 months including the 2023 Liveability Census and Community Satisfaction Surveys.

Build a permanent Outdoor stage/ sound shell, like other communities have such as Nhill and other regional towns
Build a small stage in one of the areas on the foreshore, this would allow for simple/cheap concerts in the area, and could be utilized for things such as carols, sporting events, performances, plays and other events throughout the season. Shakespeare in the park, Opera in the park, Rock in the park. It would be a massive addition to the area.

Invest in the Biodiversity of the area for future generations
Our nature is the main reason people choose to live, work and play in the Victor Harbor area. A Community Biodiversity Nursery Hub would be a great resource for local indigenous plants for revegetation and habitat improvement, accessible information and education for for the community.

Accent Lighting for Night Walks
More accent lighting on the esplanade and foreshore would create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for walking at night. I love walking at night, it's peaceful and not as busy as during the day, but lighting is scarce in some areas. Accent lighting in certain areas would make walking at night magical for locals and for the visitors. Also making great photo opportunities for those visiting and bringing awareness to our amazing coastal scapes.

Armstrong Rd tree planting
Please plant trees and shrubs on the bare patch opposite Henderson Road. A new development is being built behind this area and needs screening ASAP.

Council could lead SA in implementing residential wind turbines to supplement solar panels at night. What a wonderful windy area we have.
