The City of Victor Harbor is seeking public feedback on a lease renewal for the Back Valley Tennis Club located at 563 Inman Valley Road, Back Valley. The Club is committed to providing recreational and competitive tennis opportunities on the south coast, along with associated social and community activities, all of which contribute to the physical and social wellbeing of the broader community.

To assist the Council to renew the detailed lease for the club, the community is invited to comment on a number of proposed principles. The key principles include:

• An overall lease term of 21 years.
• The lease provides the lessee with exclusive use of the premises.
• The annual rent being a peppercorn rental, consistent with that currently being paid by local sporting groups.
• The permitted use includes tennis, community and social activities.
• The lessee being responsible for the maintenance of the premises.

Consultation Outcome

The community was invited to share their feedback on the lease renewal with the Back Valley Tennis Club for a 21 day period ending on Friday, 14 July 2023. During the consultation period, Council received two submissions, both in support of the new lease. In consideration of this feedback, the lease renewal was approved for a further 21 years.
