Consultation has now concluded. The reviewed by-laws were adopted by Council on 24 July 2023 and will come into effect from 3 December 2023.
By-laws are local laws designed for the good rule and governance of the Council area and for the convenience, comfort and safety of the community.
Section 246 of the Local Government Act 1999 allows Council to make by-laws.
The City of Victor Harbor has seven by-laws which are due to expire on 1 January 2024. To ensure new by-laws are in place when the current ones expire, Council initiated a review process in accordance with the Local Government Act 1999.
The City of Victor Harbor invited community feedback on seven draft by-laws in June 2023.
